Our Philosophy
We believe in furniture with a past and a future. Every piece we select is carefully inspected and repaired where needed so it can last for many more years. In this way, we give Danish vintage furniture a second life and contribute to a more sustainable interior, away from mass production.

Verhalen uit ons atelier
Kloosterstraat as a temporary pop-up for Atelier Formo
For years, the Kloosterstraat in Antwerp has been a place for creativity, craftsmanship, and distinctive shops. For Atelier Formo, it felt natural to open a showroom here, among other makers and lovers of characterful objects.
Learn moreWhy Scandinavian vintage furniture is more relevant than ever today
Scandinavian vintage furniture is more than a style choice. It's a way of living that combines tranquility, sustainability, and attention to detail. In a time when interiors change ever faster, well-designed furniture endures through its simplicity and quality. The furniture designed in Scandinavia between the 1950s and 1970s was made with a clear vision. Form followed function, materials were chosen for durability, and every detail had a purpose. That is still evident today. The lines are clean, the proportions are right, and the furniture feels natural in a space. Atelier Formo consciously chooses pieces that have already lived a life. Each piece of furniture is carefully restored with respect for the original design. Wear and tear is not hidden but treated so that the furniture can last for generations to come. Scandinavian vintage fits effortlessly into contemporary interiors. It combines equally well with modern architecture as with a warm, personal home. By choosing an existing piece, you not only choose character but also a more sustainable way of living.
Learn moreFrom found piece to timeless furniture: our restoration process
Behind every piece of furniture at Atelier Formo lies a story that goes beyond what meets the eye. Many pieces arrive with traces of use, minor damage, or a finish that has seen better days. This is not a disadvantage, but rather the starting point of the restoration process. We always begin by assessing the construction. Stability and functionality are paramount. Joints are checked, loose parts are repaired, and, where necessary, replaced with respect for the original techniques and materials. Next comes the surface. Wood is carefully cleaned and refinished in a way that suits the age and character of the furniture. We avoid modern varnishes that seal off the furniture, preferring finishes that allow the material to breathe and age beautifully. Our goal is not to make a piece of furniture look new. We want it to retain its history, but be ready for daily use once again. Every piece that leaves our workshop is intended to play a role in a home, not to be carefully admired. In this way, a found vintage piece of furniture becomes a timeless object once more. With respect for the past and room for the future.
